Our blessings

Warning: This is going to be a really cheesy blog entry, and might not even contain any cute pictures of my daughter (which let's face it, is why people are even interested in this blog in the first place)

I am pretty much writing this for my benefit only because it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. So there, now you've been warned and if you read ahead it is your own fault and your wasted time cannot be attributed to me at all...

Sometimes I get caught up in the things that we haven't yet attained as a family (such as a house) that I forget how many blessings we have already received so early in life. So what follows is a list of blessings that have already been given to me:

1. Adam
At twenty-four years old, I have already found the man that I am going to spend the rest of my life with. And I get to wake up next to him every day. He is my partner and my playmate. He is there for me when I need him to be and he makes me laugh a lot! He is a person with whom I get to be completely myself, and with whom I can watch Battlestar Glactica without being mocked. And he is a wonderful, fully-involved father.

2. Emma-Jean Nicole
I don't understand why people today seem to think that it is unfortunate if a woman decides to have a child early on in her lifetime. I do not feel as though I have thrown my life options away. I feel like, I was designed to be having children at this point in my life and that it makes sense biologically. I want my children to know their great grandparents, and I want to be young enough to have the energy to keep up with them! At forty years of age, I do not want to be changing diapers! I feel like Emma brings an extra joy and a closeness to our relationship. It is most definitely a lot of hard work, but at fifty I want to be traveling the world with my best friend, not bringing my kids to elementary school!

3. The fact that I can stay home with Emma
The fact that I have witnessed almost every single moment of her first 15 months on this planet is a huge blessing. I have been present for every milestone, and even if at some point in the future I have to work at least I will always have that. :) Sometimes I feel like I can't wait for a break from her (and those are definitely important) but at the end of the day I love that I get to be at home with her. I love watching her grow.

4. Adam's job
During this economy especially, I am eternally grateful that Adam's job has remained stready and we haven't yet had to worry where his next paycheck will come from.

5. Tuesday Night Crew
We love you guys! You are the friends that everyone should be lucky enough to have in their lives. A true community, who is always there to encourage and to help when needed. I'm not sure what our life would be like without you guys, but I'm sure that it would be lonelier.

Anyway...these are the thoughts rattling around in my brain at the moment. Thanks for bearing with the cheesiness if you actually did manage to read this far. And there are many many more blessings but I won't make you read those as well!
